Car Transport Tips

To make sure your local or interstate vehicle transport is safe and secure and to protect your warranty during transfer, we have prepared these simple tips.

Prior to Pick-Up:

• Make sure your car is in good working order, has a charged battery and fully-inflated tyres and no outstanding mechanical problems (unless it is being transported as a non-driveable vehicle, which needs to be arranged in advance)

• Check your fuel – there should be at least a quarter of a tank, but preferably not much more than that

• Top up all fluids

• For Electronic Vehicles, do not charge the batteries more than 50%. While in transit, avoid tracking or pinging your vehicle as this drains the batteries faster.

• Battery and all engine bay components must be secured

• If the car is a convertible, secure the top thoroughly to avoid damage from air, moisture or debris

• You will need to remove all your personal items from the vehicle (including vehicle spare parts and loose items that are not part of the standard vehicle when purchased such as blankets, tools, boxes and cartons, electrical items, liquid containers, cans, compact discs, satellite navigation devices and portable music/video equipment) – you can leave baby seats and capsules in the vehicle

• Remove or deactivate any toll tags or parking passes

• Make sure there are no dangerous goods in the vehicle (such as all forms of ammunition, flares, firearms, and flammable gases and liquids such as BBQ gas bottles, firelighters and aerosols)

• Disable any non-standard alarm or immobiliser (if you can’t, then give the driver detailed written instructions on how to turn off the alarm if it is triggered)

• Please remove weather shields, rear window louvres and removable aerials, as well as any specialty items like fog lights, ground effects or spoilers

• Fold back mirrors

• Make sure you have all keys ready to hand over – we need to have access to doors, ignition and the boot for pre-transport inspection and during transport

• If you are transporting a car to Western Australia, you need to make sure it is thoroughly cleaned before it is picked up by CEVA or dropped off at our depot so it will pass WA’s quarantine regulations to prevent the introduction of exotic pests, diseases and weeds found in other Australian states and territories. The car needs to be completely free of mud, plant material and insects, including the windscreen, wiper well, grill and under wheel arches. You may be fined if your vehicle does not pass Western Australia’s quarantine inspection. For further details on Western Australia’s quarantine regulations see here.

We will complete an inspection report with you before the car is moved, but you might like to make your own inspection beforehand so you are aware of any damage.

Motorcycle Transport Tips

To make sure your motorcycle transport is safe and secure and to protect your warranty during motorcycle shipping, we have prepared these simple tips.

Prior to Pick-Up:

• Make sure your motorcycle is in good working order, has a charged battery and fully-inflated tyres and no outstanding mechanical problems, so we can easily move it onto the trailer and steer it into position

• You do NOT have to crate or palletise your motorcycle before pickup

• You do NOT have to drain the petrol or fluids, or disconnect the battery

• You can store personal property securely inside tour packs or saddlebags if you wish, but these should be locked and you will be responsible for the contents

• Please remove helmets, pipes or other extra external parts

• Make sure you have all keys ready to hand over – we need to be able to steer your motorcycle during transportation

If you are transporting a motorcycle to Western Australia, you need to make sure it is thoroughly cleaned before it is picked up by CEVA or dropped off at our depot so it will pass WA’s quarantine regulations to prevent the introduction of exotic pests, diseases and weeds found in other Australian states and territories. The motorcycle needs to be completely free of mud, plant material and insects. You may be fined if your vehicle does not pass Western Australia’s quarantine inspection. For further details on Western Australia’s quarantine regulations see here.
