Disruption to Services - Newport Victoria Rail Derailment

East – West – East, Pacific National Derailment.  
 

At approximately 1800hrs on Saturday evening, another rail operator's service derailed several wagons at Newport, Victoria. All rail services were halted until the section of track was cleared. 
 
The ARTC was estimating a 48-hour track closure at the derailment site, with a forecast opening tonight (Monday 22/12). At time of writing this has not been confirmed. 
 
This unavoidable delay is impacting heavily on our Christmas services into and ex WA, with now envisaged delays of between 3-5 days.
